STRONGER together

SS1.jpg

Vivian D'Arezzo Ministries is partnering with World Revival and Salvation Ministries of Kenya to build churches in South Sudan for $3000 per location. The village church will hold Sunday services and double as well as a  school for local children Monday through Friday. A wide door of opportunity has opened as most of the people in South Sudan have never heard of the name of Jesus. Prayerfully consider contributing to this exciting moment! The Gospel being sent to where its not been heard.  We are stronger together.  In this case one might be doing the leg work and others, behind the scenes, providing resources. Same goal, same focus, same heavenly rewards! Read on....

More About South Sudan: After decades of civil war South Sudan in 2015 declared independence from the rest of Sudan. Wracked by conflict, the young nation hasn’t yet been able to provide its people the basics of adequate healthcare, utilities, education, and income opportunities. Seventy-three percent of adults are illiterate, including 84 percent of all women. There are a few cities where the standard of living is slightly higher but 80 percent of the people live in rural areas. The country fought to extricate itself from Sudan where radical Islam reigned along with terrorism. The country has vast oil reserves which could be extracted for profit.

Interesting Facts: Out of 210 countries South Sudan ranks #1 as the poorest on earth. It has a 75 percent illiteracy rate and is so underdeveloped there are only 35 miles of paved road in the country a little smaller than the state of Texas. Eighty-three percent of the 11 million people reside in rural areas in primitive villages without access to basic necessities. People barely own clothing but rely mostly on animal skins. There are no churches, schools, shops, stores or hospitals. People walk miles for contaminated water shared with animals and the nearest doctor is inaccessible hundreds of miles away. There's no sugar, salt or sundry items. People farm a desert cow providing meat and blood for food as well as some sparse crops

Robert Makona of World Revival and Salvation Ministries shared the following information when he returned from his first trip to South Sudan in September 2018:

People have little to eat so they eat donkey, camel, wild animals. They also eat the blood from animals. They shoot a tiny arrow into the shoulder of an animal and collect the blood in a cup and cook it. They import some food like maize from Kenya but it is expensive. South Sudan is an arid country so little food is grown but they do raise some animals. Someone may have 50, 100, 200 cows. This is their "business." There is very little water. The Catholic Charities have built some wells in some villages but there are very few. In some places the only accessible water is a small river that the animals drink from, people wash and drink from it too. They typically collect rainwater for drinking when it rains. The people live in grass huts and are tall and thin. They speak tribal languages. Only a few understand Swahili and some know Arabic. Robert Makona found great favor with the local commissioner (governor of a region). The chiefs consider him their best friend because he brought clothing.
